Happy New year everyone! I don’t know about you, but I am stoked to put 2007 to bed!
Not that it didn’t have some great highs. May 2007 marked the one year anniversary of Fifty Fifty. I bought my first brand new car, without the help of others. I decided to buy my first house, but I’ve had to rely on my Mom and another “blast from the past” to pick out colors. I’ve got to reconnect with people I haven’t heard from in a long time.
With the theme of the “highs” in mind, I figured it was time to list some of what I deem to be the best songs/albums of 2007. Instead of wasting your time as to why my opinion counts (because I do know a thing or two about music), just give the following jams a sample on iTunes. These are listed in no particular order, its just a list of the best:
“Silver Lining” by Rilo Kiley
“D.A.N.C.E.” by Justice. Go for the remix with Spank Rock and Mos Def and you will see.
“American Scum” by LCD Soundsystem
“Because of the Times” by Kings of Leon. It’s my favorite album of the year. Check out tracks like Ragoo and Arizona. iTunes samples don’t do it justice.
“Makes Me Wonder” by Maroon 5. Remember the first time you heard that damn chorus?
“Ride” by the Carey Brothers
“Phantom Limb” by the Shins
“We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank” by Modest Mouse. My second favorite album of 2007.
Yep. That’s right. I know stuff about movies too, but not necessarily an expert, so I will leave that out. I will give you a few “ten year olds” jams to sweeten the pot. Dig this: These albums/songs came out in 1998. Dig these out of your closet, or buy them, because they still hold up strong
“XO” by Elliott Smith. Seriously…I can still remember everything around me the first time I heard a song off this album.
“1965” by Afghan Wigs. One of the best albums of that year, I still listen to this album today Used to put songs off this album on mix discs for girls.
“Follow the Leader” by Korn
“Hello Nasty” by Beastie Boys.
“Rosa Parks” by Outkast. Remember the first time you heard those hand claps?
I had my pre-op for throat surgery today. I had to drive 30 minutes to get two vials of blood drawn. Really? I’ll upload some before and after pics of my throat next week. Just a heads up, it looks like a vagina.
