Happy Holidays and What Nots

So I woke up Christmas morning to find out one of my father’s best friends had died of a heart attack that morning. How does Christmas get to start off like that?

It was set to be a pretty good one. Santa Claus finally stopped visiting the Powell children. Seriously, I’m nearly 30 and Santa still had us on his route. Try explaining that to your friends, when they know good and well you aren’t married, nor do you have any children, at least none they recall.

The Holidays have been insanely busy at the restaurant. It almost has almost caused my brain to shut off completely a couple of times in December. Everyone’s dining expectations are so much higher during the holidays, and yet that is the time your staff is the most burnt out and edgy. Truely a double-edged sword.

When my other grandfather passed away last month, it got me thinking about the family. So, I dug up some old VHS tape my grandfather had put together 15 years ago. He had set up a projector screen in his living room, played home videos from the 50’s up to the 80’s and narriated the whole thing. I decided to have that cleaned up and put on DVD for the family. I am pretty excited to have to project finished.

Also during the project, I came across other videos. Some where of summer camp, but one particular caught my eye. It is an old roll of footage my grandfather took of my birth. No one has ever viewed the footage. It has been kept for nearly 30 years. I’m going to get that bad boy put on DVD too.

Throat surgery countdown is officially on. I will be in “No Talk” mode until the first of Feburary. That will be weird to say the least.

I am going to buy a house in a few weeks. I am kinda excited. I have a bunch of women helping me make it look like something from Coastal Living. When I get off work, I want to feel like I’m at the beach. I went and picked out carpet and tile today. Also, I am pretty excited about having gas logs and hardwood floors. I will write about it next month, since I won’t be able to talk to any of you. I hope you all have text messaging on your cell phones! Also, I have uploaded some new pictures from Christmas in the Fifty Fifty Photo Album. Check them out.
