Home Alone, You Filthy Animal!

So, Happy Holidays and all that jazz. I had the best Christmas in as long as I can remember this year. First of all, I got to sleep in, which is awesome. Lack of sleep is the number one source for my grumpiness throughout the day. I guess it helps that I didn’t get home from work until 3:30 am Christmas morning. The second cause of my scroogieness on Christmas: The dread of exchanging duplicate gifts after the holidays. Not to worry, there will be none of that taking place for J. Powell this year!

So here’s what’s been going on since the last update: (Quite some time for those who visit here every once in a while)

I got my permits from the city of Norfolk to open my restaurant/nightclub. I am in the process of having an architect finalize my building plans, so I can get a general contractor to give me an estimate on the cost of construction. Also, I am narrowing the field of lawyers from whom I will choose to negotiate the final terms of my lease. I will be heading back to Norfolk in a month or so to apply for my state ABC permit.

I have been talking to my boy, Jonathan in Boulder about website concepts for the Green Room. Needless to say, the site is going to be the shizzeefor hizzee. I don’t want to give out too many details at this point, because I don’t want to jinks myself.

Today it snowed 6 inches. That’s a lot for around this part of town. It’s arguably the most I have seen since leaving Colorado four years ago. I drove to the grocery store, following all of the slow, paranoid, over-feared citizens on the major highways. That aided in a serious case of road-rage. Thankfully for all of the people traveling at sluggish speeds in front of me, I did not kill them before I made it to the grocery store.

So, they were out of Tuna, which sucked. I have been jonezin’ to make this dijion-chardonney sauce to cover the top of a couple of medium-rare tuna steaks. I did, however, pick up all of the stuff I needed to make pretty killer lasagna. Yeah, I make my own sauce.

After making my lasagna, I swiped it out for hot tub time at the neighbors. Yeah, the dude has a damn TV right in the hot tub. Several crappy domestics later, I am back at the cosa, & ready to hope on my bike for the next couple of hours. Its time to shed some Holiday weight with my new Cycle Ops trainer. I will watch Seasons 1 through 3 of Ren & Stimpy to pass the stationary riding time.

More big things will be developing over the spring and summer, & as always, the fun will be posted here. This season on “J. Powell’s Corner of the Web”: The Move to Norfolk: Can J Remember how to Function in a City & The Green Room: The Grand Opening.

Salute!
